The state Department of Economic and Community Development said it has awarded $235,000 in grants to 20 nonprofit and cultural entities to help them promote attractions and events.
The so-called marketing challenge grants require marching funds from recipients, which in Greater Hartford include:
- Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford will create and distribute of an event planner five times during the 2015-2016 season to reach more households.
- The Connecticut Science Center in Hartford will continue its “CT Dino Trail” collaboration with four other Connecticut venues.
- The Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Hartford will develop digital media to increase awareness of its work.
- Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford will attend trade shows and create marketing and advertising materials targeting the group-tour market.
- Riverfront Recapture in Hartford will promote its Riverfest Food Truck Festival in July and Bear’s Smokehouse New England BBQ Championship in September.
- The Children’s Museum in West Hartford will create marketing materials that promote it as a leading STEM education center.
- Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington will create advertising, print rack cards and manage its email database.
- New Britain Museum in New Britain will launch a 14-month marketing campaign to promote the opening of its new wing in October 2015.
