A two-story office building in Westport dating to the late 19th century has sold for $1.75 million, according to property records.
In a deed recorded April 16, a limited liability company controlled by Westport resident Al W. King III purchased the 2,943-square-foot building at 61 Jesup Road.
King said he plans to use the second and third floors for his family foundation and family office. The first floor is occupied by the Westport office of wealth management firm Robertson Stephens.
King is CEO and co-founder of South Dakota Trust Co., a personal trust administrator he sold in 2023. He said he plans to retire from the company in June to focus on his foundation and family office.
The seller, 61 Jesup LLC — controlled by Robert and Vincent Marini, of Trumbull, and Gene Gabriel, of Seymour — purchased the property for $1.58 million in January 2024.
The building, constructed in 1882 and set on a 0.11-acre parcel, is appraised at $1.42 million and assessed at $994,400, according to property records.
Known as the Godillot Carriage House, the structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to the National Park Service.
“I very much value the history there,” King said.
King also owns an 1884-built, 2,882-square-foot single-family home at 18 Bridge St. in Westport, which he rents to tenants.
