A company tied to Milford-based real estate firm Metro Star Companies is seeking approval to build a 189-unit apartment complex at 553 West Ave., replacing an earlier plan for 342 units.
Metro 553 LLC is proposing six residential buildings on the 57.3-acre property near Interstate 95. The development, called The Natural, would include 261 parking spaces, including 27 electric vehicle charging spaces, according to plans filed with the city.
Metro Star already owns several apartment properties in Milford.
The developer has designated about 15 acres for development. The remaining property would include 32.3 acres set aside for preservation and nearly 10 acres for natural resource and conservation use.
The buildings would be constructed outside wetlands, but portions of three buildings and other site work would fall within the city’s 150-foot wetlands review area. Plans call for seven underground stormwater retention systems, nine stormwater treatment units and four drainage outlets into wetlands.
The Inland Wetlands Agency is scheduled to consider renewing the project’s wetlands permit at its Sept. 2 meeting.
