One of Avon’s remaining age- and income-restricted apartment communities recently sold for $27.3 million, brokers say.
Avon Mill LLC emerged from more than 20 prospective bidders to acquire the almost fully occupied 46-acre property at 75 Avonwood Road from family-owned Sixty Four Avonwood Road Associates, which built the complex, said sole broker Chozick Realty Inc. of Hartford.
According to Rick Chozick, there are only 436 non-age restricted or income restricted apartments within Avon, which includes the 186 units at Avon Mill, built in 1977.
The property features 102 one-, 78 two- and nine three-bedroom apartments; a swimming pool with sun deck and cabana, two tennis courts, picnic area with grills and walking trails along the Farmington River.
The new owner plans to upgrade the apartments’ individual units, common areas and exterior, Chozick said.
