The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that nearly $105 million has been awarded to 1,333 health centers nationally — including 16 in Connecticut that will share $1.8 million — as an investment in quality improvement.
Connecticut recipients include Charter Oak Health Center Inc. in Hartford and Wheeler Clinic Inc. in Plainville. A full list of Connecticut health centers and awards can be found here.
Health centers will use the funds to try to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of care in their communities.
In 2016, nearly 26 million people (approximately one in 12 U.S. residents) relied on a HRSA-funded health center for affordable, accessible primary health care including one in three people living in poverty, one in 10 U.S. children 17 years or younger, one in six U.S. rural residents; and more than 330,000 U.S. veterans.
