A Glastonbury-based apartment investor has proposed an 11-townhouse development in East Hartford.
Munirahmad G. Dalal has filed a wetlands application, seeking to build on a roughly 1-acre vacant lot at 47 Church St. that he has owned since 2015.
The proposed rental development would include two, three-bedroom units and nine, two-bedroom units, each with a driveway and garage space for parking, along with a front stoop and rear porch or patio.
The development would have a shared access off Church Street, along with open communal space in the rear, including a fireplace and patio area and picnic tables. Each unit would have 2.5 bathrooms.
Dalal’s son, Gulzar, said his father had invested in apartment projects since the 1990s and has built a portfolio of nearly 50 units in East Hartford, Manchester, Rocky Hill and Middletown. While this is the family’s first attempt to build an entirely new development, they are experienced in building maintenance, repair and management, Gulzar Dalal said.
The proposal will be considered by the town’s Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission Tuesday night. The development also requires a review by the Planning and Zoning Commission, Dalal said.
