The federal government has awarded $10 million to New Haven’s State Street Station to construct a second rail platform, officials announced.
The project aims to reduce delays and accommodate an increase in service under the planned New Haven-Hartford-Springfield line.
The way the station is currently configured, trains on that line would have to cross over two or three main-line tracks to reach the platform. The second platform will reduce cross-overs, helping minimize delays, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office said.
