Nearly 10,000 people, including 2,000 athletes, will descend upon Hartford this weekend for a volleyball tournament at the Connecticut Convention Center, according to the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau.
The 2015 Mizuno New England Winterfest Volley Ball Tournament, hosted by the New England Region Volleyball Association, will bring $3.3 million in revenue into Greater Hartford during the long Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, the CTCSB said.
Female athletes ages 12 to 18 will compete in the three-day tournament, which will include an event for college recruiters.
Spectator admission is free.
