10% of Bradley flights cancelled; state offices get delayed opening

Only a handful of flights at Bradley International Airport are cancelled Monday morning, despite six or more inches of snow accumulating throughout much of the state.

As of 7 a.m., about 10 percent of flights at the Windsor Locks airfield were cancelled, most being departing trips. At least three arriving and departing flights were delayed during Winter Storm Wayne.

Gov. Ned Lamont on Sunday night issued a delayed opening for state offices due to the snowy conditions. All level 2, formerly “nonessential,” state employees were directed to report to work at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

In Hartford, City Hall at 550 Main St. also had a delayed opening of 10:30 a.m.

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin activated a parking ban in the Capital City lasting from 6 p.m. Sunday to Monday at noon. Under the parking ban, all on-street parking is prohibited in the city, and any vehicles left on city streets will be ticketed and towed.

Authorized parking locations during the ban include 11 Blue Light Lots, which are dedicated for snow parking bans, all Hartford Public Schools parking lots, city parks and recreation and senior centers

“It is essential that all residents and visitors respect the parking ban so that our public works team can work quickly and safely,” Bronin said in a statement.

According to WFSB, hundreds of schools were closed Monday due to inclement weather as more than a foot of snow fell in certain parts of the state.
