Edgewell offers new eco-friendly Schick razors, Playtex tampons

With new eco-friendly tampons and bamboo razors, Shelton’s Edgewell Personal Care has bet big on sustainable products.

The company announced Tuesday it would start selling a new eco-friendly tampon through its Playtex brand product line.

The new Playtex Clean Comfort tampon uses 40% less plastic compared to comparable products, is made of 100% organic cotton and is free from chlorine, fragrances and dyes, according to a company statement.

Anna Dietrich, senior brand strategy manager at Playtex, said, “Playtex Clean Comfort offers an eco-friendly tampon choice that allows women to easily make a meaningful difference by reducing single-use plastic waste without compromising on comfort.”

Early this month, Edgewell’s Schick brand debuted Xtreme and Schick Intuition razors with handles made from certified sustainably sourced bamboo. The razors come in 100% recyclable packaging and their blades are made with 75% recycled steel.

The new razors are also sold in kits with one handle for every three cartridges, “generating less overall waste versus a traditional disposable razor,” the company said.

Last month Edgewell announced a rebranding of its Schick grooming products to focus on real people and individuality in a new ad campaign.
